Patients are seen by appointment in normal surgery hours. A few appointments are kept free each day for very urgent cases. Appointments are made by telephoning the surgery or by a personal visit.
Reasons why the receptionist will ask you what is wrong
It is not a case of the receptionist being nosey!
The reception staff are members of the practice team and it has been agreed they should ask patients “why they need to be seen”.
Reception staff are trained to ask certain questions in order to ensure that you receive:-
- The most appropriate medical care
- From the most appropriate health professional
- If you feel your issue is private and requires a same day appointment but you do not wish to discuss this with the receptionist we would offer you our online service, PATCHS, to discuss directly with the GP
Out of Hours Calls
If the surgery is closed and you require medical advice phone NHS 111 (www.nhs.uk). Our out of hours primary care provider is St Helens Rota.
